a question?

Our landscaping experts have the answers

1. Why lay a geotextile membrane beneath the gravel?

The geotextile separates the distinct sub-layers of the soil. This makes it possible to separate sand from gravel, for example. The geotextile membrane also prevents weeds from growing in the gaps between the gravel.

2. Is it essential to use stabilisation grids?

The use of a gravel stabilisation grid is essential to avoid the creation of ruts by repeated use of vehicles entering and leaving a garage, for example.

3. How much gravel should be added above the level of the stabilisation grid?

A 2 cm top layer of 5/15 or 8/16 driveable gravel should be added to ensure that all the cells are totally filled. Once the gravel has been poured into the stabilisation grid, it should no longer be possible to see the grid itself.
