Planted Surface Consolidation

Jouplast® has developed a range of stabilisation modules specifically for the purpose of creating traffic-tolerant planted surfaces. The honeycomb cell structure is designed to allow dense and uniform plant regrowth and optimise the natural infiltration of rainwater. These planted surface modules provide the perfect response to today’s growing interest in reversing soil impermeability and creating greener urban environments. Our solutions are ideal for landscaping car parks and emergency roads, protecting riverbanks and consolidating equestrian and agricultural surfaces. Ready-to-lay Urbanit® and Greenplac® modules are available pre-planted with turf or sedum.

a question?

Our outdoor landscaping experts are here to answer your questions.

1. On what types of soil can Jouplast® stabilisation plates be used ?

Depending on the nature of your soil and the intended use, there are three types of stabilisation available:

  • Without foundations : this method is suitable for covered projects on well-drained or load-bearing soil with sufficient slope. It can be used for temporary projects.
  • With minimal foundations: this method is recommended for moderately draining and load-bearing soils.
  • Conventional foundations: this method is recommended for low-bearing and impermeable soils.

If in doubt, do not hesitate to ask a specialist for a geological analysis (drainage and load-bearing capacity) of your soil.

2. How much weight can Jouplast® stabilising slabs support?

All our slabs can support weights that are perfectly suited to traffic:

  • Alveplac® and Greenplac® can support up to 600 t/m² when filled with gravel or grass.
  • Urbangravel® can support up to 800 t/m² when filled with gravel.
  • The entire URBANIT® range, designed for heavier traffic, can support up to 1000 t/m² with grass, gravel or paving stones.

The mechanical strength of our slabs is the fundamental criterion in our development process to ensure soil stability.
