1. What are the standards for creating an external staircase ?
To build a functional and safe outdoor staircase on a raised terrace, for example, you must comply with a few rules:
- Dimensions: maximum height 19 cm, minimum tread depth 24 cm and minimum width 90 cm.
- Slope: the slope must be between 25 and 45° to allow for comfortable and safe ascent and descent.
2. What slope should an outdoor staircase have?
To build a straight or quarter-turn outdoor staircase using Modulesca®, the minimum slope of the ground must be 46% and up to 70%. Outside these two slope limits, it is impossible to install our Modulesca® staircase for your landscaping projects.
3. How wide should an external staircase be ?
Our Modulesca® concept is 93.4 cm wide.
4. What is the ideal step height for an outdoor staircase ?
The Modulesca® step measures 17 cm high x 93.4 cm wide and 42.4 cm deep.
The 20 cm module measures 17 cm high x 20 cm wide and 42.4 cm deep.
5. How do I calculate the number of steps for an external staircase?
To calculate the number of steps required to build an external staircase using Modulesca® modules, we recommend visiting www.jouplast.com and consulting the step configurator.
6. How to maintain your outdoor staircase?
Modular wooden or composite staircase:
Wooden staircases require regular cleaning with a soft brush and soapy water to remove debris and dirt.
A fungicide and insecticide treatment can be applied to prevent mould and insects.
Modular staircases covered with paving:
It is recommended that the covering be cleaned with a soft wire brush to remove moss stains.
A water-repellent product can be applied to protect against moisture.
